Fun dishcloth for Easter.

May 6, 2011, Posted in Downloads, Embroidery, Home Dec, Inspiration by  Lena Kantis

I have for a long time been thinking of sewing embroideries on a dishcloth. I find it is very fun to try out new things! I bought a package with four dishcloths with no decorations. The embroidery was created using the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ Embroidery Extra. I used the Express Design Wizard and the option to fit to rectangle. It is very good when you want the embroidery to fit a certain size. There are over 325 nice pictures to choose from when you want to create your own embroideries. The font is one of the pre-digitized fonts in the category: Decorative, and the name of the font is Swirl. When you start the embroidery use the pictogram pen or fabric marker to make a little mark in the center both horizontally and vertically. Then when you start your embroidery make sure it is lined up with the center markings of the hoop. Picture is showing center lines and how to line up the dishcloth. Here is the embroidery if you want to make your own dishcloth or use the embroidery on something else, towel, gift bag or what ever you like! Download the design file here! Now I will put this in the office kitchen to be used by me and my colleagues. Happy Sewing! If you have any questions regarding the topic of the week, please contact:

Boot covers make it safe to walk in the dark!

April 8, 2011, Posted in Design Collection, Embroidery, Inspiration by  Lena Kantis

I long for spring, the best thing right now, is that we have got four more hours of daylight since December. I feel much happier, and it does sort of make me feel that I have more time to have fun sewing.

My friend and creative colleague Carina has sewn and embroidered wonderful boot covers. They are looking wonderful. If you would like to make these, you should use big embroideries on the side of the boot covers, for instance the HUSQVARNA VIKING® embroidery collection “Elegant Art Embroidery” #204.

On the back on the covers there is a zipper that does make them easy to take them on and off, and it has been decorated with reflex ribbon. It does not only look great it is also safe to be walking with these in the dark!

Two other of my colleagues are working with the development of the HUSQVARNA VIKING® embroidery design collections. Helene Koch, the artist and the creative designer of the embroidery design collections. Her outfit it is decorated with a lot of embroidery designs. The top and the under skirt has been decorated with bobbin lace, and crochet lace. HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collection #223 -Bobbin Lace and the brand NEW COMING SOON!  Design Collection #234- Crochet Creations.

Her co-worker, Sandra is testing all the embroidery designs to make sure it is the best HUSQVARNA VIKING® quality. Sandra has been sewing her outfit. A top in a printed knit fabric, together with trousers that are made in a silky satin. Great look!

I have started to sew the Crouchet collection that I did show you last week (and the one that Helene also used), on the HUSQVARNA VIKING® H|CLASS 600E sewing and embroidery machine, that is placed next to my office desk.

Happy Sewing!

On our way to Europe!

March 14, 2011, Posted in Embroidery by  Lena Kantis

This week several members of our team will be hitting the road. We are going to present all of our new products in Germany and Italy followed by a meeting in Huskvarna next week. We will start the week with two days in Germany, travel by mini van down to Milan, Italy passing through the beautiful landscape of Switzerland.

Last week I have mainly been sewing samples to show at the presentations this week, and I will share those with you later as they are still secrets.

However, I have one project that I can share already.

It is this little pin cushion. It has been created on the fabulous HUSQVARNA VIKING® H|Class 600E. This is a fantastic embroidery machine to get you started with embroidery. It comes with fantastic software that will allow you to create embroidery combinations, edit your embroideries, add text and create Hyper fonts from any of the true type fonts in you computer. If you havent ever tried to use any embroidery machine this is good value for your money. Trust me, the quality of the finished embroideries are great.

If you would like to see more about the HUSQVARNA VIKING® H|Class 600E there is some great instructional videos available on the HUSQVARNA VIKING® homepage.

It has been a long time since I shared any new HUSQVARNA VIKING® Embroidery Design Collections. But now is the time. Here is the embroidery design collection #234 – Crochet Creations . If you do not know or have the time to crouchet by hand, this is the way to do it. Use 30 weight cotton thread in both top and bobbin, and embroider the crouchet on water soluble stabiliser. It is fun and easy to create beautiful garments. See the pictures of our finished samples. This new design collection will be available in the HUSQVARNA VIKING® dealer stores by the beginning of April.

If you are into quilting and adding embroideries or combine with embroideries, do not miss out on this  new HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collection #233 – Quilted Blocks and Borders including Trapunto styled embroideries. This is a really cool style where the design isn’t stitched but the background is, this gives the effect that the design puffs out of the fabric if you have batting and fabric hooped.
In this collection there are also designs for the 200×200 hoop and 170×100 Endless designs. For the large designs in 360×200 size we’ve added positioning stitches for easy alignment. In total 38 great high quality designs.

Next week I am in Europe, and will send some pictures of the sewing projects from our sales companies in Germany and Italy.

Happy Sewing

Will Cook for Shoes

February 28, 2011, Posted in Embroidery, Inspiration by  Lena Kantis

Since last week I have been in Stockholm for a couple of days, to be attending a layout-software class! I will now be able to create PDF files of my sewing projects with nicer layout etc. It was super cold in Stockholm (felt like Siberia), and a lot of snow. I cant wait for the spring now! How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?

I asked the Sewers choice award winner with the fantastic project “Christmas Butterflies”, which was the voted as number one worldwide, if she would be willing to share any of her sewing projects with us, and she was!

So I am delighted to present Claudia Shaw from Florida, USA.

I love this apron, and I love shoes too! Claudia is writing how she created the apron:

“Here is one of the projects I wanted to share. I used the shoe design from the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ embroidery software samples, changing the size and colors, and selected the font for the lettering. I printed out templates in order to get the placement the way I wanted it. I cut the fabric for the ruffle, finished one edge of it with a three-thread narrow overlock, and did a rolled hem with a wave stitch on the other edge, then used the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Ruffler attachment to gather it evenly, and applied it to the apron hem and the pocket top. The apron was a Christmas gift for a dear friend who loves to cook, and also loves SHOES!”

Thank you “sew” much Claudia for sharing.

I am working on creating new sewing samples, it is breathtaking with great new features that will be included in the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ embroidery software coming later this year! You will love it too.

Until next week - Happy Sewing

Tjoho! is my unordinary way of saying; Good Morning when I meet people in the morning! It is fun, and everybody is looking happy when I cheer in the morning.

This week has been hectic; you can not imagine all things we are working on. We have had visitors from several countries, as we all work as a team, to get our products to be the best, and implement suggestions that we gather from you and our fellow sewers.

As a special treat, I am happy to share a fantastic quilt that has been designed and created by my colleague in the United Kingdom, Jamie Warren. I think this “Texture Hoop Quilt”, looks fabulous, and he has done such a great job with creating the border around the quilt to become perfect in size.

The Husqvarna Viking Design Collection #220 “Textured Quilting” has been used in only a few colors which do make this a master piece. I can only hope that he will share more projects when I see him again in the beginning of March.

Now I have packed my suitcase, and I am heading for Norway and will be in a fantastic city by the name of Bergen, this weekend. I am going to be part of a big customer event in a quilting shop. I will try to take some pictures for you.

Next week I will do my best to be part of making a small video on how to work with one of our new Husqvarna Viking Design collections. We have bought a better camera and plan to make more videos so it will be even more easy to use our products. Hope you will be back to see it.

Until next week,

Happy Sewing!
