Back in Sweden

May 11, 2012, Posted in Embroidery, Embroidery Software, Home Dec, Inspiration, SewFun! Blog by  Lena Kantis

After being first in China then in the USA my normal time zone is way off. It will proabably take a week to get back to normal.

In the USA I have been teaching the new Husqvarna Viking® Quilt Design Creator software. I love it! Very fun, and easy to use, and if you have not tried to add embroidery into your quilts this is a great way of starting to do that.

In Sweden we do not have any quilting frame so most of the samples was created on Husqvarna Viking® DESIGNER DIAMOND deLuxe™.

Here you can see the package and some samples that I have sewn. Great to have the possibililty to use the new software for both the Quilting frame and the embroidery machines. As I was teaching the Husqvarna Viking Embroidery software, I did also finish my letter dress. This is how it does look!

I have recieved a lot of emails reagrding the instruction for the Husqvarna Viking Professional embroidery “Table cloth”. Here is the link with the instruction on hoiw to embroider it.

Sewing beautiful small gifts!

December 6, 2011, Posted in Embroidery, Embroidery Software, Home Dec, Inspiration, SewFun! Blog by  Lena Kantis

Kerstin and I have been running our embriodery machines to create some small gifts. I have been sending a small gift to my daughter Johanna. I have used the new Inspira™collection ” Snowmen”. Very nice embroideries, and humorous. I think you will like them. I bought a towel at Ikea, mix of linen and cotton.

Here is a close up. The text above the embroidery has been added in Husqvarna Viking® 5D™ Embroidery system. It says God Jul, which is Merry Christmas in Swedish.

Kerstin is making small Christmas Cards. She is going to send 25 Cards. See how clever she is by combining one embroidery and stitch six in each embroidery hoop. That way she will only need to do it four times plus one design!

There are many wonderful embroidery designs in the Inspira™collection ” Snowmen”. Sew them on childrens outfits, or make quick gifts.

Happy Sewing!

New house- new curtains!

December 5, 2011, Posted in Home Dec, Inspiration, SewFun! Blog by  Lena Kantis

Erika and her family has been moving to a new house.  The size of the windows of their new home are not the same as the windows they had in the previous home. So Erika wanted to sew new Christmas curtains for the kitchen. Here is Erikas very nice design. It is supercute, looking like the Swedish ginger bread cookies. She did stitch the appliqués with a tear-away stabiliser behind the linen fabric. The stitch is one of the appliqué stitches.

Here is Erika sewing.

Finally she added the ric rac ribbon with a regular straight stitch. She did draw a line with the white fabric marker to have as a guide line and then stitched the straight stitch using a transparent B Foot.

She is very talented and she loves colors! Here is the curtain in her familys new kitchen. Well done!

Fun dishcloth for Easter.

May 6, 2011, Posted in Downloads, Embroidery, Home Dec, Inspiration by  Lena Kantis

I have for a long time been thinking of sewing embroideries on a dishcloth. I find it is very fun to try out new things! I bought a package with four dishcloths with no decorations. The embroidery was created using the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ Embroidery Extra. I used the Express Design Wizard and the option to fit to rectangle. It is very good when you want the embroidery to fit a certain size. There are over 325 nice pictures to choose from when you want to create your own embroideries. The font is one of the pre-digitized fonts in the category: Decorative, and the name of the font is Swirl. When you start the embroidery use the pictogram pen or fabric marker to make a little mark in the center both horizontally and vertically. Then when you start your embroidery make sure it is lined up with the center markings of the hoop. Picture is showing center lines and how to line up the dishcloth. Here is the embroidery if you want to make your own dishcloth or use the embroidery on something else, towel, gift bag or what ever you like! Download the design file here! Now I will put this in the office kitchen to be used by me and my colleagues. Happy Sewing! Sewing Stars!

February 4, 2011, Posted in Embroidery, Home Dec, Inspiration by  Lena Kantis

I had a fantastic day in Copenhagen, (Denmark) this week. I spent Wednesday teaching the sewing stars the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ certification classes, dressed up in the white shirt I got last week in London. I felt very happy and got lot of energy from this especially as they all had wonderful creative garments and quilts that they had sewn and showed me. Here are some pictures that I took.

Look at this coat which Lone Krogh has been creating. She has been very creative, using the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Yarn Couching Feet set and the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Ribbon Feet set. Added to that she has also used the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ embroidery system to cut out pieces of embroideries that she liked and changed the colors of the embroideries, all details are made to make it very personal. Love the pop up appliqués and the way she has used both tone on tone embroideries, as well as a lot of colors on the other decorations. I think it speaks for itself!

This colourful quilt is sewn by Lis Wedervang. She has been using Kaffe Fassett fabrics. She attended a class he taught and she was inspired to sew this quilt.

In the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collections we have two collections that have been designed by Kaffe Fassett. Here is another inspirational picture for samples we have sewn in Huskvarna. On the quilt you will find the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collection#82, “Garden of Delights” (Art# 920081096).
