Sharing more pictures of what Kerstin did sew for her daughter’s wedding!

July 21, 2012, Posted in Inspiration, SewFun! Blog by  Lena Kantis

It is very hot in Greece, we are out by the sea every day and I read a lot of books.  As we have teenagers that are sleeping longer in the morning, I get some time to work on my computer.I am writing scripts for some videos that we are going to shoot in Huskvarna, Sweden, when I get back to the office. It will be some instruction on what we have sewn.

I have written before regarding the wedding preparations for Kerstin’s daughter Josefin. As a mother of the bride Kerstin did sew the wedding dress. Here you can see when the fitting was done in our sewing studio.

The two grandchildren walked done the aisle wearing the outfit sewn by their grandmother, dark pants, silver colored wests, and bow ties for all three guys in pink. The family does look great!

Finally she did also spend some time to sew and embroider her own outfit. Kerstin is looking amazing in the strawberry red silk.

I look forward to the day when it is my turn to sew for my daughters.  Next year will be the option to sew together with my son’s girlfriend Linnea, as she will be graduating next year and will sew her prom dress. I wonder what color and model of the dress, she will pick.

Happy Sewing!

Summer time and maybe a visit to the beach?

July 5, 2012, Posted in Accessories, Design Collection, Embroidery, Inspiration, SewFun! Blog by  Lena Kantis

I must admit I love this time of the year. Mainly because of all the daylight hours and the possibilities for more time to visit friends and family and be out door, and at the beach.

Next week, I will visit a friend, and I have decided to embroider a couple of towels for her children. I love the new Inspira, design collection called “Funky Fish”, so I will pick a couple of designs from there, and I will add the names of the children in Husqvarna Viking® 5D™ embroidery as there are many beautiful fonts to choose from.

Here is one towel we have embroidered here in the office

I have finished my table cloth. I did use the Husqvarna Viking® Interchangeable Dual Feed Foot, to stitch in the ditch and to finish the binding. Find the instruction how to use it in the accessory users guide:http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us/accessories_search.asp

It does make a huge difference as it does feed the fabric from both top and bottom. Looks great on both sides after stitching as you can see.

Back in Sweden

After being first in China then in the USA my normal time zone is way off. It will proabably take a week to get back to normal.

In the USA I have been teaching the new Husqvarna Viking® Quilt Design Creator software. I love it! Very fun, and easy to use, and if you have not tried to add embroidery into your quilts this is a great way of starting to do that.

In Sweden we do not have any quilting frame so most of the samples was created on Husqvarna Viking® DESIGNER DIAMOND deLuxe™.

Here you can see the package and some samples that I have sewn. Great to have the possibililty to use the new software for both the Quilting frame and the embroidery machines. As I was teaching the Husqvarna Viking Embroidery software, I did also finish my letter dress. This is how it does look!

I have recieved a lot of emails reagrding the instruction for the Husqvarna Viking Professional embroidery “Table cloth”. Here is the link with the instruction on hoiw to embroider it.

Wedding preparations!

March 29, 2012, Posted in Inspiration, SewFun! Blog, Sewing by  Lena Kantis

Kerstin is very busy- her daughter Josephine is getting married in June, and there are many projects that will be sewn for the wedding.

Here is the very first thing Kerstin started to make. She embroidered all the names of the guests on the napkin rings. That way it will be easy for everybody to find their seats.

Since my last blog I have been in London for one week making more videos with Sue Hausmann and Janie Lantz at our VSM software company. Guess what- there is something new exciting for you to see at the end of April!

A new Husqvarna Viking® Design Collection #246 “Shadow Lace Embroideries” is very beautiful, instead of using a lot of thread this is using fabric to enhance the design. Embroider on light weight fabrics such as tulle, or organza. Then add fabric underneath the design. It will make the design pop. I will soon try this myself.

This week I am in China for a week visiting my husband, and I am very happy as I have sent one sewing machine and an embroidery unit. I need to finish a project and would like to sew a new dress too. I will buy some fabric tomorrow.

And I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter. Here are two Easter embroidery designs that is fun to embroidery for Easter.

I think you recognize the first one, as I posted it last year, but as we have had problems with the link, I wanted to add it here again.

Second one is a sweet Bunny in a basket.

Happy Sewing!!

Amsterdam, Paris and London!

March 2, 2012, Posted in Design Collection, Embroidery, Inspiration by  Lena Kantis

We are going  on a tour! It did actually start last week in Huskvarna. No traveling for us, but we had guests from Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. We did show all the new products that we are launching within short. One of them you have already seen too, the new Husqvarna Viking 140 year anniversary machines- the Tributes.  There are much more to come! All kinds of fantastic sewing products.

On Sunday we will fly to the Netherlands,  Amsterdam. I have not been there for several years. We will have the meeting for two days, then we will go by car to Paris. Look forward to this, as I have not been going on the road that much in Europe. We will be four people traveling by car, together with all our new products, and sewing samples.

A new design collection is also something I will spend some time to try! It is the new Husqvarna Viking® Design Collection “245, http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/global/428_26153.htm Decorative Edge Work.

Here is one of the garments made for the design collection catalogue.  I did try to nice jacket that has been made here in our office. Like it, very nice fabric, a heavy knit in offwhite.  The stabiliser for using this design collection is watersoluble, like the Inspira™ Aqua Magic.

You will be seeing pictures from the Netherlands and France next week.

I am teaching one technique and the participants are sewing a small project. I did use the instruction from our sewing projects a small jewelry bag., here is the link.http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/global/507_17755.htm

Why did I write London, the reason is that I will be going there after Paris, I will only be home for one day and then off to London to make new videos with my dear friends Janie Lantz and the one and only Sue Hausmann. I am “sew” much looking forward to my trips, to meet my colleagues and also to meet new people that I have only been in contact with by email.

Happy Sewing and enjoy your weekend!
