We are getting closer, Santa will be here soon! Have you sent him your wishlist? If you have missed the Husqvarna Viking® Gift Guide, I have added it here, it is fun and easy, create your own wishlist and send it to your facebook page, your blog or as an email. Click here to find it.

In the Husqvarna Viking® Gift Guide, we have a Baby Hat pattern that you can download. Click here for the printable  pattern and click  here  for the sewing instruction.

See how cute little Freja is in the hat made in Fleece!

Note: On this little hat we did only fold the edge inside and used an overlock stitch on the sewing machine to finish the edge! Remember with sewing nothing is wrong- it will only be uniqué.

I have decorated my home here in China a little bit. See my pictures how it did turn out. One Swedish Santa in China and my Dimentional Decorations. Happy with how they turned out.

On Sunday I will fly back to Sweden with my daughter. Back in the office next week to see what they are up to. I will let you know!

Happy Sewing!

As I was working on my dress, and have not yet been able to locate stores that has got all the items I would like to use, I did come up with other solutions. Thought you might want to see what I did. Instead of the lace for the edge around the v-neck and sleeves, I used a matching solid blue stretch fabric. Cut a long strip and ironed it lengthwise to be used as a piping. To help me keeping it perfectly on the width of 4mm, I did use the basting stitch (6 mm long straight stitch) to run on the folded edge 4mm from the edge. Then it was easy to sew along that line stitching it in place on the dress.  I recommend using the Husqvarna Viking® Interchangeable Dual Feed Foot, when you are sewing on several layers of stretch fabric.

Next thing was to stitch it along the edge, following the 15mm (5/8th) seam allowance. Iron again and finally I top stitched below the piping with a twin needle (2mm). Of course using the Twin Needle Safety in the Set Menu to make sure I do not accidentally hit any other stitch and prevent me from breaking my needle.

I have finished the dress and the wallhanging. Here they are!

I have cut another dress in black with white dots. A Burda Magazine that I did bring here had a nice pattern.

Happy Sewing!

“Sew” much more time to sew!

October 16, 2012, Posted in Embroidery, Inspiration, Overlock, Quilting by  Lena Kantis

First project has now been started! I did only bring two summer dresses to China, as I planned for cold weather. I am not used to have warm temperatures in October. Here is still summer! Anyhow that is why I decided to sew a dress to wear now.My new cutting table is one of the kitchen counters which has got perfect height.

I love the fabric, and of course I have washed it before I get started. Sewing most of the dress on my Husqvarna Viking® overlock machine does make this a quick project.

I did have one nearly finished halloween project too, a very small wall hanging. I will only add the backside fabric and quilt stitch it. The black fabric for the little quilt is now in the washing machine. I will get that done tomorrow!

If you are looking for making some small Halloween projects, why not embroider the new Inspira®
#116 Halloween Item# 620118196″, on a towel, tablecloth or sew a little mini bag that can be used when the kids are out to have fun with “trick or treat”. They are adorable!

Happy Sewing!

Cover up!

Kerstin has been on a trip to Italy. She has got a red bathing suit, and she needed something to wear on top of the bathing suit when going to lunch etc.

Here is a very quick wrap to add, like a tube, which has got elastic inserted in a channel at the top and just is super easy to sew. Most is sewn  on the Husqvarna Viking® Huskylock s15.

As I am the craziest person at the office, I will definitely sew a new t-shirt with the new Inspira™ Collection #117, “Party Animals”.

Here are the fun designs!

Here is the design I will embroider!

Maxi dress- best mosquito protection!

July 12, 2012, Posted in Overlock, SewFun! Blog, Sewing by  Lena Kantis

Maria has inspired me to sew a dress! She did sew a very nice long dress, in a medium weight knit on her overlock. I borrowed her pattern, which is a Burda pattern number 7555.

Here is a picture of the two of us!

Note, the difference in length between the two of us. The great thing of sewing our own Maxi dresses are of course the possibility to get the length we want. Maria do rarely find dresses for her length.

Eva-Britt, did help me to pin the hem, then I did iron it before stitching. (If the fabric is very heavy, leave it on a hanger for 24 hours then it will not change in length.) I did learn something new as Eva-Britt was pinning. She told me to always start sewing from the bottom of the skirt parts if the dress is like the above, A- shaped. It will keep the layers come together in a better way.

I wanted to share two options to hem the skirt; You can easily hem it by using a twin needle, or you can use the new Inspira™Clear Coverstitch Foot for the Husqvarna Viking® Huskylock s25. See in the accessory user´s guide how it does work.

See how it is creating a nice hem. After finishing it is easy to use the scissor to cut off the excess of them on the inside.

On Sunday we will travel to Rhodes, Greece to visit my mother in law, and to have our vacation. It is wonderful.  However one of the reasons for me to sew a long dress is due to the fact that in Rhodes, there are many mosquitos.  Last year I had 25 spots on each leg from the knees down to my feet, and I did realize that if I wore a long dress, the mosquitos could not get to my legs to bite me.
As my mother in law has got a sewing machine and an overlock, I will bring a piece of fabric to create another dress.

I will stay three weeks in Greece, then I will be back at the office. I will keep you updated on some sewing that will take place in Greece as well as sharing a couple of things we have worked on lately.

Happy Sewing.
