Make more use of your embroidery designs!

To decorate your garment with embroideries, when you sewing a new jacket for instance, you can create a super cool personal look. Use any of your favorit embroideries. They can be transformed in so many ways. I wanted to share how I decorated a jacket I made a couple of years ago.

I selected one Flower Design from HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collection #125 ”Funky Flowers”, and I sewed the embroidery on the left side of the jacket. To add more, I wanted to pick some pieces of the embroidery design and add it on the collar as well as below the first embroidery. A template was used to draw some wavy lines with a pictogram pen, and those lines were stitched with a reinforced straight stitch to make the lines more visible. If you are good at drawing you can of course draw a freehand wavy line. Finally I stitched some beads on the embroidery designs, which can be done on the sewing machine, if the hole of the bead is not too small. I did that with only the sewing machine needle, not using any presser foot. You can use tweezers to hold the bead.

Edit any of your favorit embroidery designs by using the possibility in HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ Embroidery Extra and select the pieces you need. I prefer to use the polygon select as it’s really easy to use.

The pictures are showing the left and right side of the collar and the left front of the jacket. Finally I also embroidered my name inside the jacket.

Kerstin is expecting a new grandchild (her second), and she has been preparing a lot the last weeks. In Sweden the most common thing is that we don’t find out beforehand if it is a boy or a girl. We prefer to be surprised. So therefore Kerstin does not know if she will get a grandson or a granddaughter, well how can she prepare then? Here is a sample of what she has done. One pink and one light blue hat. Only one of them will be used by the new baby!

See what you can create by using your imagination.

I have a very good friend, Carina, and she is also a colleague of mine. She is a really talented tailor, and she is sewing most of her outfits herself. See how she has embroidered an accessory to enhance her outfit. It does consist of several free standing embroideries from the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collection # 217, “Precious Crochet”.

I think it looks fantastic! don’t you think so too?

The embroideries are sewn on water soluble stabiliser and she has used 30 weight cotton threads in both top and bobbin.  I would also recommend using an Inspira Top Stitch Needle size 75, which has got the larger eye. Carina used three different designs from the collection and then stitched them together with a small zig zag after arranging them in a nice way.

Another way to do the same thing is to combine several embroidery designs by using the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 4D™ or 5D™ Embroidery Software. I have made a combination for a Necklace and will stitch it out as one embroidery. You can see that the designs are slightly on top each other, that means they are stitched together nicely and I do not need to sew them afterwards.

I found one small embroidered crochet design that I had done earlier, so you can see how it looks when it’s a separate embroidery.

Today I will cut out a new dress, in a super cool fabric. It is a nice wool. My plan is to sew it during the weekend.

Happy Sewing!

Same, same but different.

I am certain that each person have got their own preferences when it comes to colors. We all have our own favorits, don’t you think? I have one color that I love more than any other and that is turquoise. Every time I can find a fabric in that color I start to plan and think of a suitable project to use it for.

Let me show you the difference. At a sales company meeting here in Jönköping, we all got a white shirt to decorate in our own personal way. Ingrid my colleague, created a beautiful embroidery using designs that are included with the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Designer Diamond™ sewing and embroidery machine. She used plenty of colors, in fact I think it is the colors suggested to use for these embroideries.

I liked the embroideries very much, so I asked her if she would mind to let me use the same combination, but in another way. I selected to use colors in gold, beige, white and sand.
To be able to sew the embroideries on the yoke of the blouse we opened the side seams of the blouse.  Some of the embroideries are using the special technique, Thread Velvet.

If you want to try Thread Velvet, we have several embroidery collections are using this technique. The newest is the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collection# 224 Thread Velvet Décor. Six beautiful embroideries made for HUSQVARNA VIKING® Majestic Hoop.

Beautiful sewing project; found in Norway!

When I travelled to Norway, I did that together with my colleague Ingela, and we did it by car, as it is only 5-6 hours drive from Huskvarna. To travel in Norway is fantastic, the scenery and the beautiful landscapes by the fjords are outstanding. I can highly recommend it.

We introduced HUSQVARNA VIKING® DESIGNER RUBY™ sewing and embroidery machine, the new 5D™ Embroidery System and the Cutwork Needles for the Norwegian dealers. They also got a plan of what will be happening in the stores, during the next part of the year. I might get back to you later to share the sewing ideas, there are great, quick and easy projects to sew on the overlock! I took some pictures of sewing projects that I saw, and I love to get new ideas. (I did get their permission to show them here!)

A bag made by using the software module Inspira® 4D™ QuiltDesign Creator. It is made by Marit Johannesen, Tönsberg. She has been creating her own beautiful design in the software and then stitched it out on her embroidery machine.

It is great that you can use this software for a quilting robot as well as your embroidery machine! If you want to try how the embroidery will look like, find some free designs on the webpage! http://www.4dquiltdesign.com/info_freedesigns.htm

A Coat, Made by Reidun E. Tanum. I am sure you agree this coat is looking fabulous. Reidun has selected 5 different fabrics, she told me she numbered them when she cut out the pattern pieces in order to have different combinations all over, and to make sure the same fabric was not stitched together. You can also see that she has decorated the coat with embroideries; the embroidery on the waistline is from HUSQVARNA VIKING® Design Collection #117, “Mega Borders”.

There is one piece decorated with the Yarn Couching Feet set and the Design Collection#207 “Decorate with Yarn”. Finally she did also use the 4D™ Embroidery Software, to create the text “I´m not afraid of heights” and the combination of the shoes. The shoes are resized from the original design and they are from an Inspira Collection, but now available both on myembroideries, and in the sample file of 5D™ Embroidery Software.

Beautiful and fun! It is easy to find them in myembroideries, by typing the word ‘shoes’ in the searchbox.
The inside of the coat is as beautiful as the outside. She has made a label and she has added a beautiful lace around the inside of the lining. I would love to make a coat like this! Time to start searching for fabrics!

Happy sewing!

I am running two HUSQVARNA VIKING® DESIGNER DIAMOND™ sewing and embroidery machines in my office, like a small embroidery business.

It is going to be a give away embroidery design at the Norweigan Dealer Meeting (one embroidery for each dealer attending).
A beautiful free standing lace created in the HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ Design Creator

If you want to learn how it is created you will find an instruction of a similar design in the new QuickStart Exercises, in the new HUSQVARNA VIKING® 5D™ Design Creator. In the exercise called ‘Fleur de Lys’.

The Nordic dealer meetings are about to take place, first I will travel to Norway, to a city called Drammen. There will be a dealer meeting from Friday until Sunday.
I travel home on Sunday, and on Monday I will travel to Stockholm and work there, at the Swedish dealer meeting.

I did not get to finish any of the two sewing projects; however, I always have a plan B (or even C & D!) in case something goes wrong. It is one of my strengths, to find away around the obstacle in one way or another.

My Plan B this time was to buy a ready made dress, and sew embroideries on it.
I selected an embroidery from a new HUSQVARNA VIKING® Collection that will be launched in October. It is using 60 weight cotton threads (very light weight) for the embroidery.

The white sample is using shrinking bobbin thread! Really cool!
The other sample on the beige fabric is an endless embroidery, and it is the one I have selected for my dress, and the last picture is showing one embroidery design that has got four corner alignment stitches, so you can create your own fabric. Love, love, love!!!

I embroidered black on black, as I like tone on tone, using water soluble stabiliser.
Truly a delicate and exquisite embroidery collection. It will be available in the stores within a few weeks!
The name of the HUSQVARNA VIKING® Embroidery Collection is # 232 “Delicate Embroideries”.

See you next week, have fun sewing!

Lena
