As I was working on my dress, and have not yet been able to locate stores that has got all the items I would like to use, I did come up with other solutions. Thought you might want to see what I did. Instead of the lace for the edge around the v-neck and sleeves, I used a matching solid blue stretch fabric. Cut a long strip and ironed it lengthwise to be used as a piping. To help me keeping it perfectly on the width of 4mm, I did use the basting stitch (6 mm long straight stitch) to run on the folded edge 4mm from the edge. Then it was easy to sew along that line stitching it in place on the dress.  I recommend using the Husqvarna Viking® Interchangeable Dual Feed Foot, when you are sewing on several layers of stretch fabric.

Next thing was to stitch it along the edge, following the 15mm (5/8th) seam allowance. Iron again and finally I top stitched below the piping with a twin needle (2mm). Of course using the Twin Needle Safety in the Set Menu to make sure I do not accidentally hit any other stitch and prevent me from breaking my needle.

I have finished the dress and the wallhanging. Here they are!

I have cut another dress in black with white dots. A Burda Magazine that I did bring here had a nice pattern.

Happy Sewing!

“Sew” much more time to sew!

First project has now been started! I did only bring two summer dresses to China, as I planned for cold weather. I am not used to have warm temperatures in October. Here is still summer! Anyhow that is why I decided to sew a dress to wear now.My new cutting table is one of the kitchen counters which has got perfect height.

I love the fabric, and of course I have washed it before I get started. Sewing most of the dress on my Husqvarna Viking® overlock machine does make this a quick project.

I did have one nearly finished halloween project too, a very small wall hanging. I will only add the backside fabric and quilt stitch it. The black fabric for the little quilt is now in the washing machine. I will get that done tomorrow!

If you are looking for making some small Halloween projects, why not embroider the new Inspira®
#116 Halloween Item# 620118196″, on a towel, tablecloth or sew a little mini bag that can be used when the kids are out to have fun with “trick or treat”. They are adorable!

Happy Sewing!

Sew in China!

I am about to move to China, new country, more people and an experience of living in another part of the world! I have always dreamed of living in a new part of the world to see how it is, but I never thought it would be China.  I look forward to it!

Next week I will be leaving, and I am trying to get all my sewing stuff packed and I am getting Kerstin started on using Skype. My husband has been working there since January this year. My youngest daughter is going to high school there.

I have found a lot of items in my office that I have not seen for some time. (I am cleaning up my office for the person that is going to replace me when I am away!)

Here is a pair of jeans that I did sew years ago, with an embroidery that I have digitized myself. Love the dragons. I will try to create some new dragons as I did buy a book in Japan once that has got lot of images of dragons.

Yesterday I was shopping some more fabrics, so I can start to sew directly when I get there!

I have saved a lot of pictures lately on projects we are working on and I will share as soon as I can, as we are always working on projects six month prior to the launch.

One new Husqvarna Viking® design collection!

# 250- Majestic Appliqué,  is a fantastic collection using less stitches and fun fabrics s appliqués. How fun to be able to create something of all small pieces that I have in my stash of quilt fabrics.

The designs are in various sizes so you can pick and choose which ever you like. If you like to make a fabric with an allover design, there are four embroideries that you can use for creating that with connection points.  Fun!

Happy Sewing!

Linnea 18, (Simon’s girlfriend) has been using a old denim jeans that has been worn out, to create a denim jacket and a denim vest. She mixed black and blue denim, and used the same denim jacket pattern for the two garments.

Another project that is made out of a pair of jeans; is a  trapunto tote bag and it is  created using the new Quilt Block Wizard in the  Husqvarna Viking® Quilt Design Creator™. Watch the video, with Sue Hausmann and Janie Lantz where they talk about this project.

More news the Husqvarna Viking® embroidery design center!

For the new Husqvarna Viking® Mega Endless Hoop- we have created a new design collection, #249 – “Mega Endless Floral” with stylish endless flowers and some are even made to match sideways so that you can create an allover fabric embroidery.

The designs can of course also be sewn out using the Husqvarna Viking® Designer Crown Hoop 260 x 200, or the Husqvarna Viking® Designer Royal Hoop: 360 x 200mm. You will need to work more with the Design Position feature if you want to create them as endless embroideries.

Home dec projects in a new Moroccan tile style!

Sweden, Greece and China, I am lucky to have been able to spend time in several countries with my family during this summer. Now I will get back to work in my office and will have nice memories from my vacation.

There are still many countries that I have never visited, but can dream of! One is Morocco, and I imagine something like “thousand and a night”.

The new Husqvarna Viking® Design Collection,  #248 – “Moroccan Tiles”, is super nice if you are going to sew and embroider new home decoration projects.

The effect full designs that are made to be combined in to fantastic creations, inspiration for this collection came from the all so popular Moroccan tiles that can be found in exclusive stores.

They can be made as colorful tiles; each color is appliqued, using small pieces of nice colorful fabric. However the designs can be sewn in one color as well, leaving out the applique.

If that is not enough- you can turn the designs in different combination, by rotating them. I think it is  like kaleidoscope, and there for you get many combinations of the embroideries, that will turn out differently!  The pouf to sit on is wonderful! I took the pictures in our Husqvarna Viking store at our office.

Combine to get your personal preference! Fun, creative and playful!

Happy sewing!
